A grand Maulid celebration of the Holy Prophet (S) was held in Kano, where vehicles, motorcycles, sewing materials, food items, and other gifts were distributed to some of those bearing the names of the Holy Prophet's parents, his name, and the names of his family members.
The Maulid, which Shareef Alhaji Abdulƙadir Sarkin Baƙi organizes every year, was held this year over two days, Saturday to Sunday, September 12 and 13, 2026, in Kano, as reported by SK Press TV.
This year, a new dimension was introduced at the Maulid celebration, where some people bearing the names of the Holy Prophet (S), Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hassan (AS), Imam Husain (AS), Sayyidi Abdullahi, and Sayyid Abudalib were given vehicles and motorcycles as gifts.
Similarly, sewing materials and other household items were distributed to some people bearing the names of the Holy Prophet's family members, including Sayyida Amina, Sayyida Fatima, and Sayyida Khadija (AS).
In addition to the gifts, over 200 bags of rice were also provided to the needy, to ease their hardship and bring joy to their hearts during this Maulid period.
In another part of the event, some people bearing the names of the Caliphs of the Holy Prophet were honored, where they were given special items along with a cash gift of up to N300,000 each.
Furthermore, Sulaiman S. Uziri was presented with a gift of a special large house, as an honor and commendation for his contributions in praising the Holy Prophet (S) and his family.
The Maulid included many programs, including sermons and admonitions, praise of the Holy Prophet, honoring, and supporting the public.
The organizers of the event described the Maulid as an opportunity to show love and respect for the Holy Prophet (S) and his family, while using the occasion to support the needy and bring joy to the community.
