Ali Mohammadi, a deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, has responded to US President Donald Trump’s claim that he has control over the Strait of Hormuz.
“If that is the case, then, in the name of God, bring one of your warships within 100 kilometres,” Mohammadi said.
The senior IRGC official said the Americans know that if their warships approach, they will face a response from Iranian fighters. Without providing further details, he claimed that “a similar incident occurred in recent days.”
Speaking at a late-night gathering of government supporters in the Iranian city of Mashhad, Mohammadi said, “Today, there are no American forces in the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman or the Strait of Hormuz, and no US military equipment has been deployed in these areas.”
He added that if American forces approach the designated area, “they themselves know what will happen to them.”
According to Mohammadi, every vessel departing from Kuwait or Bahrain, without exception, is being monitored by the IRGC Navy.
He warned that if any vessel is found to have violated the law, action will be taken against it in accordance with established regulations.
