Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi is set to hear the verdict in his trial over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Kosovo war.
Thaçi, a former political leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), has denied the charges against him. Prosecutors accuse him and other former KLA leaders of involvement in a campaign of persecution, unlawful detention, torture and killings during the 1998–1999 conflict.
The trial is being held before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, which was established to investigate and prosecute serious crimes allegedly committed by members of the KLA.
Thaçi and his co-defendants have maintained their innocence, while their defence teams have challenged the prosecution's evidence and allegations.
The verdict is being closely watched in Kosovo, where Thaçi remains a prominent and controversial figure because of his role in the country's struggle for independence from Serbia.
