Rescue workers are searching for people trapped underground following the collapse of a mine that killed 11 people and injured at least 30 others in Sudan’s Red Sea State.
According to miners, as reported by the Agence France-Presse (AFP), the incident occurred late on Saturday night.
The number of people still trapped underground has not yet been determined.
Sudan’s Mining Authority confirmed the incident but did not disclose the number of people affected.
The incident is the second deadly mining accident in Sudan within a week, following the deaths of at least 82 people in West Kordofan State.
