The woman recorded in history as having the most births of anyone is Mrs. Vassillev from Moscow, Russia, who lived between 1707 and 1782. It is said that she was pregnant 27 times, gave birth to twins 16 times, gave birth to triplets 7 times, and gave birth to quadruplets 4 times. In total, she gave birth to 69 children. (Science has confirmed this.) She was the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev.
Her story was recorded in historical documents, including by the Moscow Academy of Science, and was presented to the Russian Empress Catherine the Great. While her story has been the subject of discussion and skepticism, her account continues to stand as an astonishing record in human childbirth. Later, her husband remarried and had 18 more children with his second wife, bringing his total number of children to 87.
