This morning, Monday 03/08/2026, at about 6:00am, Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza returned to his family.
In an interview with a close associate of the Judge on DCL Television Station. He told journalists that he was released this Monday morning. Early in the morning around 6 to 7am. And Alhamdulillah, he returned in good health just as he was taken. He confirmed that there were no injuries on his body when they met him. However, as of now he is in the hospital with the police for a medical check-up and for further investigation.
In his statement, he said that the Judge returned in a hired car, which brought him right to the door of his house. But he did not explain how the Judge got in contact with the car that brought him home. However, he said he was among those who took the ransom of about ₦50,000,000. And while they were on their way to deliver the money, the kidnappers called them and told them to also bring them Maltina and five packs each of Dudu, which they drank in front of them.
“We took the ransom money from here in Birnin Kebbi, and the entire journey was not more than seventy kilometers (70km).” He added that 5 people handed over the ransom money on Friday 31-07-2026 as they had agreed with them. But they did not release the Judge to them to come back with him. Suddenly, this Monday morning, he returned home in a hired car.
