President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), effective Wednesday, August 27, 2026.
Mr. Enitan will succeed Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is retiring upon reaching the statutory retirement age of exactly 60 years.
Currently, Enitan is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, having spent seven (7) years and seven (7) months in the role. Throughout this period, he has served in the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President. He currently serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
President Tinubu commended Didi Walson-Jack for her contributions to reforms and innovations, as well as her efforts in improving the public service system during her tenure leading the federal civil service.
Furthermore, President Tinubu directed the new Head of Service to consolidate ongoing reforms, boost professionalism and work efficiency, and ensure civil servants operate with competence, merit, transparency, accountability, and commitment to public service.
Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, who hails from Osun State, will officially assume leadership of the Federal Civil Service starting Wednesday, August 27, 2026.
