Spain Have Taken The Prize
After Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in a tense match, the victory gave them the chance to win the World Cup for the second time in their history.
After both teams had two goals disallowed late on, they finally managed to score the goal that came from the boot of Barcelona’s Ferran Torres.
After the final whistle and before the awards were presented, there was a commotion. Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala was seen pushing Spain’s Dani Olmo. On the other side, Molina was seen trying to fight Rodri. From another angle, Argentina’s enforcer Paredes was seen elbowing Eric Garcia and then grabbing Gavi, which forced the referee to show him a red card.
For now, FIFA will review this incident and then announce the punishment it decides to take.
After everything calmed down, three Spanish players won awards:
1. The Golden Boy award for the best young player went to Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí.
2. The Golden Ball award for the best player of the tournament went to Manchester City’s Rodri.
3. The Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper went to Atletico Madrid’s Unai Simón.
