The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the selection of his deputy, Murtala Sule Galadima Garo, as his running mate for the state governorship election to be held in 2027.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the governor's spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf made this known during a strategic political meeting with appointed officials of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's federal government, which was held at the Kano State Government Lodge in Abuja.
The governor said he made this decision due to the loyalty, commitment, and dedication that Garo has shown toward the development of Kano State since assuming the position of deputy governor.
He also expressed satisfaction with their working relationship, stating that Garo has demonstrated competence, dedication, and a sense of responsibility in carrying out his duties.
Governor Yusuf further expressed his full confidence in the deputy governor, saying that his contributions have further strengthened the government's efforts to deliver meaningful development across Kano State.
"I assure you that I have not regretted choosing Garo as my deputy, and he has proven that he is the right person. I have complete confidence in him," the governor said.
Additionally, Governor Yusuf called on party leaders, political office holders, and supporters to continue to unite and remain committed in order to build on the achievements of his administration and prepare for the 2027 general election.
