Former Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Suleiman Abba, has left the APC and joined the PDP in Jigawa State.
Abba announced his defection at a large gathering held in Bamaina, the hometown of former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, where he was received by PDP leaders and supporters.
He stated that he joined the PDP to pursue the Jigawa South-Southwest Senatorial ticket in the 2027 elections, adding that he would focus on improving security, agriculture, and creating job opportunities for youths.
On his part, Sule Lamido said Abba's entry is a major victory for the PDP, noting that it would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, the PDP Chairman in Jigawa, Babandi Gumel, confirmed that the party is ready to receive Abba and thousands of his supporters into its fold across the state, while the PDP governorship candidate in Jigawa, Mustapha Lamido, said Abba's defection would further boost the party's strength in the state.
