The SUG President, Temidayo Adeboye, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday, stating that the student, named Tomisin, was abducted along with seven other persons.

According to him, Tomisin was traveling with the National Director of the Scripture Union Student Fellowship, Uwem Cosmos, and other conference attendees.

Reports indicate that they were on their way back to Ibadan after attending the Scripture Union National Conference held at Camp of Faith, Okigwe, in Imo State.

Adeboye further added that the student's absence was noticed after she failed to sit for examinations scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

He said that another student from the Department of Music who attended the conference had already returned safely.

On her part, the university's Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed that the university is aware of the incident, though she noted that the trip was not officially communicated to the university beforehand.

According to her, the incident occurred on Saturday, and she stated that the student is the only one from UI confirmed to have been abducted, not eight as some reports have claimed.

She added that the student left the university without notifying the authorities of her destination.
