From 9/05/2026 to 30/05/2026, bandit leader Kachalla Muhammadu killed at least twenty-nine (29) people and injured ten (10), while kidnapping 3, in the Matazu Local Government Area, especially in Sayaya, Kogari, Mazoji Wards and Matazu town, within a period of not more than twenty-one (21) days.
Below is the list of towns that were attacked, along with the number of people killed and the number of those injured who are receiving treatment.
On May 9 of this year, 2026, bandits entered Kukan Damisa village in Sayaya Ward, where they killed seven (7) people and injured one (1) person.
On May 10, they entered the villages of Dugul and Hayin Nomau in Sayaya and Mazoji Wards, where they killed 9 people and injured 4 people.
Similarly, on May 25, they again entered Dugul town and killed 4 people and injured one person.
Also, the bandits entered Gidan Mamuda in Kogari Ward on May 25, where they killed 2 people and injured one person.
Two days after this, on May 27, the bandits entered Gidan Baruma village in Sayaya Ward where they killed one (1) person.
Then on 28/05/2026, they entered Sayaya town and killed three people.
On May 29, the bandits ambushed people who had gone to clear farmland in Matazu town, where they killed 2 people and injured 2 people.
Also, on the same day, 29/05, they entered Sayaya town where they again killed one (1) person clearing farmland.
Then on 30/05/2026, the bandits under the command of Kachalla Muhammadu blocked the Matazu road and kidnapped 3 people, including Major General Rabe Abubakar, his wife Hajiya Amina Abubakar, and his driver Abdullahi Sa’idu, whom they later released the driver.
