US Downplays Reports Russia Gave Iran Intel To Help Tehran Strike US Assets

The United States has downplayed reports that Russia shared intelligence with Iran that could help Tehran target American military assets in the Middle East. U.S. officials said they are aware of the reports but insisted the alleged intelligence sharing has not affected American military operations.

According to U.S. intelligence officials, Russia may have provided Iran with information about the locations of American warships, aircraft and other military assets in the region. However, officials also said there is no evidence that Moscow directed Iran on how to use the information.

The White House acknowledged the reports but played down their significance. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the alleged intelligence sharing “is not making any difference” because U.S. military operations against Iran are continuing successfully.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also said American intelligence agencies are closely monitoring communications between countries involved in the conflict. He stressed that the United States is aware of developments and is factoring them into its military planning.

The reports come amid escalating tensions as the United States and Israel carry out strikes on Iran while Tehran launches missile and drone attacks in retaliation across the region.
