US President Donald Trump has said that the United States could carry out additional attacks on Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export hub, “just for fun” amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump claimed that US forces had already “totally destroyed” much of Kharg Island and suggested they could strike it again “a few more times just for fun,” while rejecting peace proposals from Tehran as insufficient.
The remarks came as Trump urged US allies to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil route disrupted by the conflict, and said the US is not ready to accept Iran’s current peace terms.
Trump also questioned whether Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is still alive amid ongoing speculation about his condition.
The war has severely disrupted energy markets and raised concerns about further escalation in the Middle East.
