How Israel-US War On Iran Puts $50bn In Indian Remittances At Risk

The ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States could threaten nearly $50 billion in remittances sent to India by millions of Indian workers living in Gulf countries.

A large number of Indians work across the Gulf region, including in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. Money they send home every year makes up a major portion of India’s total remittances, supporting millions of families.

Analysts warn that if the conflict spreads across the region, it could slow economic activity in Gulf economies, potentially affecting jobs and incomes of migrant workers, including Indians.

Any disruption to regional trade, oil markets, or stability could reduce the flow of money sent back to India, putting billions of dollars in remittances at risk and creating economic pressure for many households that depend on these funds.
