Yoga Classes Aim to Bring Moments of Peace to Gaza’s Traumatised Children

Yoga classes are being organised to help children in Gaza City and across the Gaza Strip, where ongoing conflict has left many young people struggling with fear, stress, and trauma.

Organisers say the goal is to give children short moments of calm through gentle movement, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. These sessions are designed to reduce anxiety and help children cope with the psychological impact of violence and instability.

Teachers and mental-health volunteers note that yoga can help children manage emotions, improve focus, and rebuild a sense of normal childhood through play and group interaction. Such support is especially important in places where daily life is marked by uncertainty and hardship.

Despite difficult conditions in Gaza, organisers say they hope to expand the programme so more children can benefit from activities that support both physical and emotional wellbeing.
