Pakistan Claims at Least 70 Fighters Killed in Strikes Along Afghan Border

The military in Pakistan says its forces have killed at least 70 fighters in a series of strikes carried out near the border with Afghanistan.

According to officials, the operations targeted suspected militant hideouts and cross-border positions believed to be linked to armed groups accused of launching attacks inside Pakistan. The strikes reportedly involved air and ground action aimed at disrupting militant movements and supply routes in the frontier region.

The developments come amid rising security tensions between the two neighbouring countries, with Pakistan repeatedly calling for stronger action against armed groups it says operate from Afghan territory. Such incidents have in the past led to diplomatic friction and concerns about escalation along the volatile border.

Authorities say security operations are ongoing, while independent verification of the reported death toll and details of the targets remains limited.
