Ukraine has marked four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, with the conflict leaving widespread destruction, heavy casualties, and frontlines that have largely stalled in many areas.
Commemorations across Ukraine honoured soldiers and civilians killed in the war, while leaders stressed the country’s continued resistance and the need for sustained international support. Large parts of eastern and southern Ukraine remain heavily damaged, with towns destroyed, infrastructure shattered, and millions displaced since the invasion began in February 2022.
Military analysts say the battlefield has increasingly settled into a grinding war of attrition, with neither side achieving a decisive breakthrough in recent months. Fighting continues along extended frontlines, with ongoing missile and drone attacks adding to the humanitarian and economic toll.
Western allies have reiterated commitments to assist Ukraine with military aid and reconstruction support, while diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire or negotiated settlement have so far produced little progress.
