Tracking Sudan’s Humanitarian Crisis: By the Numbers

Sudan is facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises as ongoing conflict continues to devastate lives and communities across the country. Millions of people have been affected by violence, displacement, hunger, and the collapse of basic services, pushing the nation deeper into emergency.

Since fighting erupted, millions of Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes, with large numbers seeking refuge in neighbouring countries while others remain internally displaced. Entire cities and villages have been emptied, leaving families without shelter, food, or access to clean water.

The crisis has also triggered severe food insecurity, with a significant portion of the population struggling to find enough to eat. Aid agencies warn that hunger levels are rising rapidly due to disrupted farming, blocked supply routes, and soaring food prices, placing children and vulnerable groups at extreme risk.

Healthcare has been badly hit as well. Hundreds of health facilities have been damaged, looted, or shut down, limiting access to lifesaving care. Outbreaks of disease are increasing as hospitals run out of supplies and medical workers are forced to flee for safety.

Humanitarian organisations say the scale of need continues to grow daily, while access to affected areas remains limited by insecurity. Without urgent international support and a lasting ceasefire, aid agencies warn that the numbers behind Sudan’s humanitarian crisis will keep rising, with devastating consequences for millions of people.
