Sudan’s humanitarian crisis has deepened further as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launch renewed attacks on a key strategic city, worsening conditions for civilians already trapped by months of conflict.
According to local sources, fierce clashes erupted after RSF fighters stormed several neighbourhoods, targeting military positions and taking control of key routes. Residents say heavy gunfire and shelling forced hundreds of families to flee their homes, many seeking refuge in overcrowded shelters or open areas with little protection.
Humanitarian workers report that aid delivery has become nearly impossible due to the intensity of the fighting. Food supplies, medicine, and clean water are rapidly depleting, leaving vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and displaced persons, at severe risk.
Officials warn that the power struggle between the RSF and Sudanese army is pushing the city toward total collapse, as hospitals struggle to operate without electricity or medical supplies. Many health centres have shut down entirely.
Regional observers say the ongoing clashes highlight the growing danger of a prolonged stalemate in Sudan, one that could lead to even greater displacement and deepen the already dire humanitarian situation. They call for urgent international intervention to allow humanitarian corridors and protect civilians caught in the violence.
