"Soldiers were withdrawn from the area just hours before the students of Maga school were abducted" - Governor Idris.

Idris made this statement today, Friday, in Birnin Kebbi, while hosting the president of the National Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, who visited the state to sympathize with him following the attack.

He said the incident was unfortunate and disturbing, especially since from the outset, the state government had received intelligence indicating a potential attack, and immediately called for an emergency security meeting to take action.

According to him: "As a government that acts swiftly, we received intelligence about a potential attack, so we called for a security meeting.

"During the meeting, the security officials assured us that everything was okay, and that they would deploy their personnel to the location.

"So, soldiers were deployed to the school, but by 3:00 AM, they were withdrawn. At 3:45 AM, the attack was launched," as the Governor explained, according to the NAN report.
