Russian forces have entered the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, employing new battlefield tactics designed to neutralize Ukraine’s growing reliance on drones.
According to Ukrainian military officials, Russian troops are now using signal-jamming systems and camouflage maneuvers to disrupt drone surveillance and strikes, making it harder for Ukrainian forces to monitor and target advancing units.
Reports suggest that the Russian army has also deployed small mobile squads instead of large battalions, a change meant to reduce exposure to Ukrainian drone attacks and artillery fire.
Local authorities in Donetsk region said heavy fighting is ongoing in and around Pokrovsk, which has become one of the most contested areas on the frontline.
Ukraine’s defense ministry described the situation as “difficult but under control,” emphasizing that they are adapting their strategies to counter Russia’s new methods.
Military analysts say this shift marks a new phase in the war, where both sides are racing to innovate drone and electronic warfare tactics that could redefine modern combat.
