North Korea Accuses US of ‘Wicked Hostility’ Over Cybercrime Sanctions

North Korea has strongly condemned the United States for imposing new sanctions related to cybercrimes, describing Washington’s actions as “wicked hostility” and a violation of its sovereignty.

According to reports from North Korean state media, the US recently announced sanctions targeting several individuals and organizations allegedly linked to hacking operations that fund Pyongyang’s weapons programs.

In a statement, North Korea’s foreign ministry said the sanctions were part of an ongoing campaign to tarnish the country’s image and hinder its “legitimate development efforts.”

The statement added that such “provocative acts” would not go unanswered and warned that the US would “pay a heavy price” for its continued interference.

The US government, however, maintains that the sanctions are aimed at curbing North Korea’s illegal cyber activities, which include cryptocurrency theft and ransomware attacks used to finance its nuclear ambitions.
