Iran Authorities Urged Residents Of Mashhad To Reduce Their Use Of Drinking Water

Authorities in Iran have urged residents of Mashhad, the country’s second-largest city, to reduce their use of drinking water due to shortages.

Earlier, it was announced that the city would face water scarcity as a result of the severe drought affecting parts of the country. The city’s water storage reservoirs, which supply the northeast region, have dropped to less than one-third of their capacity — the worst level in decades.

At the beginning of this month, President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that residents of the city might be relocated if the crisis continues to worsen and no solution is found.
