Reports from Kebbi State have confirmed the release of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Samaila Bagudo, who was kidnapped by gunmen days ago.
A source from the Assembly told the BBC that Bagudo was released in good health after spending several days in captivity.
It is still unclear whether a ransom was paid before his release, but the source said the Assembly expressed gratitude to all those who worked towards securing his freedom.
The lawmaker was abducted on October 31 near his residence in Bagudo town.
