The Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Command in the northern part of the country, has announced the death of five of its officers during an ambush by gunmen.
A statement issued by the command's spokesperson, CSP Ahmad Wakil, said the personnel were on a peacekeeping mission to resolve the conflict between farmers and herders in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area, when the incident occurred.
He added that two other officers were injured, while the troops successfully neutralized several gunmen.
"Unfortunately, the ambush led to the deaths of the following officers: DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU)."
