Why PDP Refused to Sell Nomination Form to Sule Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor and senior PDP chieftain, Sule Lamido, has accused the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of deliberately preventing him from purchasing the nomination form for the position of National Chairman ahead of the party’s upcoming national convention.

Lamido arrived at the PDP National Secretariat (Wadata Plaza) in Abuja to buy the form, but, according to him, the Office of the National Organising Secretary, the department responsible for selling the forms, was locked, and party officials claimed they had no information about where the forms were being distributed.

He alleged that the responsibility for handling the sale of nomination forms had been moved to the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.

Lamido expressed frustration, saying: “If they don’t give me the form, I will go to court. That’s all.”

He described the situation as a deliberate attempt to silence him and block his participation in the internal contest.

Meanwhile, some senior party members have appealed for calm, urging Lamido and other aspirants to use internal party mechanisms to resolve grievances instead of taking the matter to court.
