The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 12 people died in a fatal motor accident involving a Kano Line commercial bus along the Zaria–Kano Expressway in Kano State.
The tragic incident occurred at Samawa village in Garun Mallam Local Government Area early Friday morning when the bus veered off the road and collided with a heavy-duty truck.
According to FRSC officials, preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was likely caused by mechanical failure which made the driver lose control of the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus burst into flames immediately after the crash, making it difficult for some passengers to escape.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the full cause of the accident, while relatives of the victims have been contacted as efforts continue to provide support to the affected families.
