Demonstrators rally to defend democracy and oppose what they call Trump’s power grab.
Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets across major cities in the United States for a series of “No Kings” rallies aimed at opposing former President Donald Trump’s growing political influence and what they describe as his attempts to undermine democratic principles.
Large crowds gathered in Washington D.C., New York, Los Angeles, and other cities, carrying placards with messages such as “No One Is Above the Law” and “Democracy, Not Dictatorship.” Organizers said the protests were meant to remind Americans that the presidency is not a monarchy and that power must remain accountable to the people.
Police reported that the demonstrations remained peaceful overall, with security tightened in some areas to prevent any violence or clashes.
