On World Food Day, Israel Continues to Restrict Aid Entry into Gaza

Humanitarian groups urge Israel to open supply routes as hunger and malnutrition worsen in the enclave.

World Food Day

As the world marks World Food Day, Israel continues to block or restrict the entry of humanitarian aid and food supplies into the Gaza Strip, despite growing international pressure.

Humanitarian organizations have reported that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza are facing extreme hunger, dehydration, and lack of medicine due to months of war and ongoing blockade.

The United Nations says that the number of people suffering from severe food insecurity has dramatically increased, especially among women and children. The organization has urged Israel to allow the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to prevent further loss of life.

Israel, however, insists that it is working to ensure aid shipments do not fall into the hands of Hamas, which has led to delays and restrictions at border crossings.

Observers say the situation is deeply troubling, especially at a time when the world is reflecting on the right of every human being to access safe and sufficient food, while Gaza remains trapped in hunger and despair.
