Sports Diplomacy Takes Center Stage Amid Ceasefire.
The President of Norway’s Football Federation, Lise Klaveness, has expressed her approval of the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas ahead of Norway’s important World Cup qualifying match against Israel.
Klaveness also reiterated her commitment to dialogue, saying she looks forward to meeting her Israeli counterpart before the game, despite prior friction over Norway’s decision to donate profits from ticket sales to aid organizations in Gaza - a move that drew criticism from Israel’s football association.
She emphasized that football is secondary to peace, saying the ceasefire offers hope that violence can stop and hostages can return home. Norway’s FA has already worked with local security in Oslo to ensure safety around the match.
