Fresh tensions emerge despite truce between the two sides.
The Israeli government has accused Hamas of breaching the recently signed ceasefire agreement in Gaza after reports of renewed rocket attacks from the enclave. According to Israeli officials, the actions by Hamas show a lack of genuine commitment to the peace deal that was brokered under international mediation.
Local reports indicated that explosions were heard in several parts of Gaza, sparking fear among residents who had only recently begun returning to their homes following a short period of calm.
Hamas, however, denied Israel’s allegations, claiming that Israeli forces were the first to break the truce by launching strikes in southern Gaza. Meanwhile, mediating nations, including Egypt and Qatar, are making efforts to restore calm and ensure both sides adhere to the ceasefire terms.
