Ulcer
Ulcer pain (called ulcer in English) is a condition that occurs in the stomach or at the beginning of the small intestine (called the duodenum). It happens when the mucous layer that protects the stomach lining weakens, which allows stomach acid to damage the stomach wall, resulting in a painful sore or wound.
Causes of ulcer pain:
1. Bacteria: Bacteria called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) are the most common cause.
2. Use of painkillers: Long-term use of painkillers such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and diclofenac.
3. Excess stomach acid: Things like smoking, alcohol consumption, and excessive stress can increase stomach acid, which damages the mucous layer.
Symptoms of ulcer pain:
1. Burning stomach pain, especially after eating or in the middle of the night when you feel hungry.
2. Nausea
3. Bloating
4. Vomiting
5. Discomfort in the stomach
What you should do:
If you experience these symptoms, it's best to go to the hospital to see a doctor. The doctor will perform some tests to confirm the condition and give you the appropriate medication. These medications may include:
· Antibiotics (if H. pylori bacteria are present).
·Acid-reducing medications.
Self-help:
· Do not drink alcohol.
·Stop taking painkillers.
·Do not eat very spicy food.
·Try to reduce stress.
Note: The information I provided is for educational purposes only. Therefore, consult a doctor for a full examination and treatment.
Medical treatment alone may not be fully effective unless you make some changes in your lifestyle. Getting good sleep is important.
1. Reduces stomach acid – During sleep, the body significantly reduces acid production, which gives the stomach lining a chance to heal.
2. Repair of body cells – Sleep increases hormones that help repair cells damaged by ulcers.
3. Reduces stress – Lack of sleep increases cortisol, which can worsen ulcers. Deep sleep reduces the occurrence of this.
4. Strengthens the immune system – Adequate sleep helps the body fight H. pylori (the bacteria that causes ulcers).
5. Improves digestion – If you get good sleep, digestion proceeds properly, and this reduces the likelihood of stomach pain and bloating.
In short: Ulcer medication alone is not enough to heal you completely if you lack good sleep. Getting at least 7–8 hours of sleep per night is one of the secrets to recovering from an ulcer.
