Iran has issued a fresh warning to the United States over the latest conflict that has erupted between the two countries. In a message posted on his X account, Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, said the United States’ efforts would not help it escape the crisis.
“This desperate effort will not help you escape the fire you have set for yourselves. Very soon, you will see how Iran’s new strategy on the battlefield, in diplomacy, and in confronting efforts to isolate it from the world will destroy the foundations of your power,” he said.
Rezaei’s remarks came after the most intense exchange of attacks between the two sides in recent weeks.
In the latest strikes, US forces targeted areas along and east of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as parts of western, southwestern and southern Iran.
One of the attacks killed four people and injured 68 others at a wedding ceremony held in the city of Kohstak in Hormuz Province.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei described the attack as a “war crime.”
Iran said it responded by launching attacks on US military bases across the region, including those in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan Region.
