Nigeria’s Minister of Defence Christopher Musa States Every Nigerian Should Receive Military Training.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has suggested that every Nigerian should undergo military training to understand the challenges and sacrifices required to defend the country.
VANGUARD newspaper reported that Musa made the statement during an interview on the African Leadership Podcast with Ken Giami, published on Monday.
C. Musa said military training exposes people to hunger, exhaustion, physical hardship, and other challenges that can transform their perspective on life and the responsibility involved in protecting the nation. Therefore, every Nigerian should have the opportunity to undergo military training, as it would give every citizen a new outlook on life. People would also understand what it means to go hungry and to work for days without sleep.
He added, “It is the training that teaches you the meaning of resilience. When you walk for kilometers, exhausted, yet you must keep moving forward. You haven't eaten, you haven't drunk anything because of the nature of the duty you are performing, and you are doing all this to protect your country and its people.”
Finally, General Christopher Musa called on Nigerians to understand that soldiers have families they love, yet they leave them behind at home while serving on the battlefield, for no other reason than to ensure the country remains at peace.
