Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has firmly rejected allegations by U.S. officials that her government has links to powerful drug cartels, describing the claims as false, baseless, and unacceptable.
Speaking at a press conference, Sheinbaum said Mexico's government is committed to fighting organized crime and has intensified operations against drug trafficking groups across the country. She insisted that her administration would not tolerate corruption or collaboration with criminal organizations.
The remarks came after comments from U.S. officials suggested that elements within the Mexican government were connected to cartel activities, raising tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Sheinbaum argued that such accusations undermine the strong cooperation between Mexico and the United States on security, migration, and efforts to combat transnational crime. She called for mutual respect and urged both countries to continue working together based on evidence rather than political rhetoric.
The Mexican president also highlighted recent arrests of cartel members, drug seizures, and joint security initiatives as proof of her government's determination to dismantle organized crime networks.
