Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said on X that Iran has always been the “guardian of the Strait of Hormuz” and will continue to hold that role “forever.”
Araghchi made the statement as tensions continue over the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important waterways for global energy trade. He stressed that Iran considers protecting the security and stability of the strait as a major responsibility.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and natural gas supplies pass from Gulf countries to international markets. Any conflict or disruption in the area could have a major impact on global energy prices and international trade.
