Ukraine has announced that it is working on a new prisoner exchange deal with Russia, as the government pushes to secure the release of soldiers held since the early stages of the war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said negotiations are ongoing with international partners to help broker an agreement that would allow both sides to exchange detainees. He stressed that bringing Ukrainian soldiers home remains one of the government’s top priorities.
Zelenskyy noted that although the talks face serious challenges and delays, Kyiv will not give up on efforts to free its captured troops. The announcement comes as fighting intensifies across several frontline regions, putting additional pressure on both countries’ leadership.
