People's Opinions Regarding the Death of Brig General M. Uba

A writer stated on his Facebook page: "It was due to a lack of modern equipment that General Uba is dead. While he was communicating with his troops via WhatsApp, the troops did not have devices to detect his exact location in real-time. Therefore, they had to rely on the WhatsApp conversation to get a location signal.

Brig. General M. Uba

If our troops had complete modern equipment, it is possible this would not have happened.

What is noteworthy is: He was a General—a senior commander at the war front.

Think if it were a minor soldier in such a situation, would it be carried?

The Nigerian government is trying, but it is important to ensure our soldiers have all the necessary equipment to strengthen national security and protect the lives of our troops," said Adamu Garba.

"Two days ago, the Army General was returning with his soldiers from an attack they carried out in the Sambisa forest when ISWAP ambushed them.

The Army General managed to escape the ambush, fled to a nearby village, and even managed to speak via WhatsApp to announce that he had survived and was in stable condition.

Then the story spread in the media that the Army General had been kidnapped. This drew the attention of the ISWAP terrorists, who intensified their search, found him in the village, shot him in the leg as he tried to escape, and after speaking with him, they killed him.

This is the greatest disservice the media has done to us in the North; that is, the media directly helped the terrorists kill our Army General.

People who provide journalists with information about what is happening on the battlefield against terrorists are causing no small disservice in the fight against terrorism. It is time for the Government to take serious action against journalists who hastily publish reports related to the fight against terrorism without the military's approval.

We have lost a military hero, a truthful man, a devout reader of the Holy Qur'an, a soldier who provided the people of Damboa area with complete protection from terrorist attacks." From Datti Asalafy, as he stated on his Facebook page.
