Zamfara Lawmaker Defect From PDP To APC

GUSAU, October 27, 2025 – The political landscape in Zamfara State has continued to witness realignments as Honourable Maharazu Salisu Faru, a member representing Maradun II Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly and routed through the Clerk to the House, Hon. Faru announced his decision to dump the PDP, citing poor leadership within the party, particularly at the national level and in Zamfara State.

According to the lawmaker, after wide consultations with his constituents, he resolved to move to the APC, noting that members of his constituency had also decided to align with the ruling party.

Hon. Faru, who chairs the House Standing Committee on Justice and Judiciary, stated that his defection took effect from October 28, 2025.

The development adds to the growing list of lawmakers in Zamfara State who have recently switched allegiance to the APC, further strengthening the party’s presence in the State Assembly.
