During a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, the lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction with the way the recruitment was conducted, describing it as riddled with bias and injustice.

The Assembly stated that "Despite the large population of Northern Nigeria, significant discrimination was shown which violates the principles of the Federal Character Commission."

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawal Hussaini Dala, who moved the motion, said "The process was not transparent, and there was imbalance, marginalization, and discrimination."

He said "The published list showed preference for the southern region, particularly the South-West, which he described as disappointing and dangerous to national unity."

Reports indicate that out of the 1,785 newly recruited customs officers, over 1,000 were from the southern region, while the northern region got barely 540 people.

The Kano Assembly accused the customs service of favoring only one region and of being unfair and discriminatory.

While presiding over the session, Falgore, urged northern representatives in the national assembly to intervene to suspend this recruitment exercise.

He also called on the President to cancel the entire list of recruits due to its lack of balance.
