1. PEPTIC ULCER DISEASE (Ulcer).
If the ulcer is near the middle of the stomach (gastric or duodenal ulcer), the pain appears in the upper abdomen or middle of the stomach. The pain can occur before or after eating. Sometimes it may also be accompanied by vomiting or nausea.
2. GASTRITIS

If the pain occurs in the upper abdomen, on the right side, after eating fatty foods, it could be a gallstone. The pain can be intermittent and spread to the back or shoulder (Abdominal muscle strain). Sometimes the pain is not from the intestines, but from the external muscles.
