The meeting, which took place at the Government House in Sokoto, brought together representatives from the police, civil defense, and traditional institutions, all of whom pledged their support for the initiative.

According to the Office of the Press Secretary, the move is part of the government’s wider plan to reform the Almajiri education system, ensuring that children studying in Tsangaya schools receive both religious and formal education in a safe and dignified environment.

Officials also emphasized that street begging exposes children to danger, exploitation, and poor living conditions, stressing that collective action is required to protect their rights and secure their future.
