Protests have entered their third day in Tanzania following a disputed election, with the military now deployed to maintain order.

Reports indicate that demonstrators are accusing the government of rigging the election to favor the ruling party, while opposition groups are demanding a recount of votes.

In parts of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, clashes have been reported between protesters and police. Witnesses said security forces used tear gas and warning shots to disperse the crowds.

Authorities said the military deployment was necessary to prevent violence and protect lives and property, while urging citizens to remain calm and await official results.

However, human rights organizations have condemned the use of force, warning that it could further escalate tensions in the country.

The national electoral commission has yet to issue a clear statement addressing the complaints, as the international community continues to monitor the situation in Tanzania.
