The Concerned Ulama of Sunnah group has filed a formal petition against certain Islamic clerics, accusing them of defamation, character assassination, and inciting public unrest through the use of social media platforms.
According to the group, some preachers have allegedly been using Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp to spread messages that promote division, hatred, and conflict among followers of Sunnah.
One of the group’s leaders said: “We are deeply concerned about how religion is being misused to insult and attack others, especially among scholars who are supposed to guide the community. This is unfortunate and dangerous because it can lead to unrest and weaken social harmony.”
The group called on security agencies and Islamic authorities to take swift action to prevent further escalation, emphasizing that Islam is a religion of peace, unity, and mutual respect.
It was also revealed that the group has submitted a detailed report to the relevant authorities for investigation and necessary action.
A photo shared with the report showed Young Imam and Nasiru Shuaibu Babbar Harka, who have been mentioned in connection with the issue on social media.
