Barcelona star Aitana Bonmatí has once again been named the Women’s Ballon d’Or winner for 2025, making it her third consecutive triumph after also winning in 2023 and 2024.
With this achievement, the
Spanish midfielder has made history as the first woman ever to claim the
prestigious award three times in a row, setting a new milestone in women’s
football.
Over the course of the 2024/25
season, Bonmatí played a total of 58 matches for Barcelona, scoring 20 goals
and delivering 18 assists, underlining her importance to the club’s success
both in Spain and in Europe.
She received the award from her
teammate and fellow Spaniard Alexia Putellas, who had herself won back-to-back
Ballon d’Or titles in 2021 and 2022. The handover symbolized the continuation
of Barcelona’s dominance in women’s football, with the Catalan club producing
two of the sport’s most decorated players in recent years.
Bonmatí’s latest victory not only
reflects her individual brilliance but also highlights Barcelona’s strength in
women’s football, as the club continues to dominate both domestically and
internationally.
